KENOSHA, WI, December 27, 2019 — Downtown Kenosha Inc. (DKI) will open the application process for its Façade Improvement Grant Program on January 1, 2020.

DKI’s Façade Improvement Grant Program was established to assist property owners and commercial tenants in the downtown Kenosha business improvement district with the restoration, renovation, redevelopment, and repair of commercial businesses in its downtown district. The grant program aims to encourage new and existing business and property owners to invest in their storefronts, awnings, and signs, while restoring the original character of historic buildings and providing a catalyst for redevelopment of the area.

The program offers up to $10,000 in matching funds through a reimbursable grant meant to stimulate private investment. To date, the program has awarded 18 projects, granted nearly $55,000 in funds, and helped leverage over 3 million in private investment dollars.

In the program’s fourth year, DKI has continued to see substantial program growth and interest throughout the community. “We are excited to offer this program that invests directly in businesses and properties in Downtown Kenosha,” stated Alexandria Binanti Robinson, DKI Executive Director. “We are looking forward to another successful year of projects that are transforming our community.”

The application can be filled out and submitted at https://www.downtownkenosha.org/doing-business/toolbox/facade-program/
DKI may be reached at (262) 842-5537 or at director@downtownkenosha.org for questions or application assistance.

DKI Façade Grant Applications can be submitted from January 1, 2020 until February 15, 2020. Awarded projects will be announced in March, 2020 where awardees are required to begin their project commitments in the spring construction season.

The Facade Grant Program wouldn’t be possible without incredible community supporters and funders including:
Educators Credit Union, First American Bank, Heartland Bank and Trust Co., Johnson Financial Group, Kenosha Area Business Alliance, State Bank of the Lakes, and Tri City National Bank.

And DKI would like to give special thanks to:
Partners in Design, Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, University of Wisconsin – Extension, and the Façade Grant Committee who have helped shape the success of the program’s development and continued investment opportunity.
